Passport Renewal

Please follow the links for instructions on how to apply for a U.S. passport. Failure to submit a complete and correct application will delay your case.

Renewing a passport which was issued on, or after, applicant's 16th birthday (and no more than 15 years have passed since the date of issuance).

Renewing a passport which was issued before applicant's 16th birthday.

Renewing a passport if more than 15 years have passed since the date of issuance of the most recent passport.

Renewing a limited, temporary passport issued overseas within one year of the issuance date.

PROCESSING TIME
Upon receiving a complete application the processing time for a passport is approximately 3 weeks.

Important Notice

ENTERING THE U.S.
According to Section 215 of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1185), it is illegal for an American citizen to enter or leave the U.S. on anything other than an American passport. This applies to dual citizens as well, meaning that persons holding e.g. both Swedish and American citizenships and passports must enter and leave the U.S. on a U.S. passport. They may NOT enter/leave the U.S. on a Swedish passport. This applies to children as well as adults.
