Urgent Medical Care

Qualified visa applicants who seek medical treatment in United States may apply for a B2 visa. Applicants should call the Embassy Switchboard at 08-783-5300 and ask to talk to a consular officer. The following is required to document the need for medical treatment:

  1. A guarantee letter from an individual or an insurance organization taking responsibility for paying the bill. If an individual is the payer, a guarantee letter from his or her bank is required.

  2. A letter from the Swedish medical care provider documenting the need for medical treatment in the United States.

  3. A letter from the U.S. doctor giving details of the treatment, mentioning the cost and acknowledging the source of payment from Sweden.

  4. A letter from the hospital, mentioning the cost of care and treatment and acknowledging the source of payment from Sweden.
