Non-Immigrant Visa Unit

Most Swedish citizens going to the US for tourism or business will be able to travel without a visa on the Visa Waiver Program

Applicants for nonimmigrant visas must be interviewed in person. In order to receive an appointment, please see instructions on the "Apply for a visa" page found in the menu on the left side of this page.

An applicant and all derivative applicants (e.g. family members traveling with the principal applicant) must be physically present in Sweden at the time of the application.

The U.S. Embassy Stockholm's visa section makes every effort to facilitate travel for legitimate business purposes. For business expedite requests or questions about E-2 visas, you may contact our e-mail address, stknivinfo@state.gov. If you are requesting an expedite, the email subject should read: Request to Expedite a Non-Immigrant Visa Appointment. Please include appointment confirmation number, full name, contact telephone number, and the reason why an earlier appointment is required. Please do not re-send your request.

Find information about business visas on the Department of State's Business Visa Center website.

The term "business" in this context refers to negotiating contracts, meeting clients, participating in seminars, attending expositions, and taking customer orders. It does not include accepting employment or running actual firms in the US.
